The temperature didn't start out too cold, about 55 degrees with the warm Colorado sun. We went just outside Highlands Ranch to Daniel's Park to catch some mountain views and sunset lighting during this family portrait session. Unfortunately Their young boy Rex was on the verge of a 3-day sick spell and was less than thrilled about getting his picture taken today. However, Their two girls more than made up for it with their excitement. I used a longer 70-200mm lens for many of the portraits and group shots so I was shooting from about 7 to 15 feet away. After each shoot, the girls would run back to me with excitement and anticipation to see how the pictures turned out...I strive to view the world through the eyes of a child like that. In fact for the whole session, I couldn't aim the camera without the girls popping in the frame with a ready smile. It was great and I got some fun natural moments from them. But I will be back to get Rex on a better day to round out the experience for Teesha and Derrick and for the older version of Rex, looking back on the memory with fondness.
